Originated from Provence, France Aioli is a very famous and traditional French sauce. It’s a creamy mixture made up of garlic cloves, eggs, lemon juice and olive oil. The aioli is a very smooth and highly flavored mayonnaise kind of sauce with a very pleasant fragrance. Traditional Aioli Recipe:
The traditional aioli recipe is very simple; the ingredients you need to have are:
- One cup olive oil
- One tablespoon lemon juice
- One egg yolk
- Two garlic cloves
- Salt to taste
- Some water
Smoothly grind garlic cloves and salt together in a food processor or blender. Now add an egg yolk and mix well. The mixture should be whisked constantly while adding the egg yolk. After that add a thin stream of olive oil in the mixture and continue to blend until it begins to turn thick and creamy. Now slowly add some lemon juice and water to this creamy mixture. Your traditional aioli is ready to serve.
Pesto Aioli Recipe:
This amazing aioli recipe is also very easy to make. The ingredients are:
- Six garlic cloves
- Six egg yolks
- One cup parmesan cheese
- Three cups basil leaves
- Eight cups of olive oil
- One and a half cups of pine nuts
- 3 tablespoon lemon juice
- One fourth teaspoon Dijon mustard
- Salt and pepper to taste
Blend all ingredients in a food processor except the olive oil. Now while constantly whisking the mixture slowly add the oil and blend it very well until the mixture becomes creamy. The tasty Pesto aioli is ready to eat.
Things To Remember:
In addition to that if you want to put some zest to the traditional aioli recipe, you can simply add other ingredients like Dijon mustard, chives, pepper, soya sauce, basil, orange peel and Italian parsley to it. Also make sure that the ingredients you are using are at room temperature and you are blending them at a very consistent speed since speed and temperature are two most important factors while making this delicious sauce. It’s also recommended that you refrigerate the aioli overnight before serving. This is good for bringing in the flavors of all ingredients together. However if you don’t have enough time, you should prepare it at least 2 hours before serving.
